Rafał Deja is a doctor of medicine and a manager with over 30 years’ experience in the healthcare sector, the management of healthcare organisations and public administration.
He graduated from the Faculty of Medicine at the Silesian Medical Academy in Katowice. He holds an MBA from the University of Teesside and the Kraków University of Economics. He also studied at the Conservatoire National des Arts et Métiers and the École Nationale d’Assurances in Paris. He took part in the European Healthcare Leadership Programme organised by INSEAD in France.
He began his professional career as a doctor, subsequently holding managerial positions in the healthcare sector and the pharmaceutical industry. Between 1994 and 1997, he was a medical representative for Eli Lilly Poland. He then held directorial roles at, amongst others, the Inowrocław Health Resort and the University Hospital in Kraków. Between 2002 and 2004, he headed the Małopolska Regional Health Fund and the Małopolska Provincial Branch of the National Health Fund, where he was responsible for shaping the region’s health policy and managing one of the largest public budgets in the healthcare sector.
For over twenty years, he has been a co-owner and manager of the SpecjalDent group of medical centres and NZOZ Białoprądnicka, developing activities in the fields of dentistry, psychiatry, obesity treatment and clinical trials.
He is the author of publications on healthcare management and a lecturer in the field of organisation and management within the healthcare system. For many years, he has held positions in industry and local government organisations related to healthcare.
He has extensive experience in managing medical organisations, developing growth strategies, overseeing the quality of healthcare services, collaborating with public administration, and corporate governance.
He is qualified to sit on the supervisory boards of companies in which the State Treasury holds a stake, as confirmed by passing a state examination, and is included on the list of candidates for membership of the supervisory boards of such companies.
