Wei Fan

Mrs. Wei Fan received her medical training at Wuhan University School of Medicine and completed her postdoctoral training at Rockefeller University under the mentorship of Jeffrey M. Friedman, whose pioneering work led to the discovery of leptin, a hormone critical to the regulation of body weight and energy balance.

Mrs. Fan was among the early employees of Millennium Pharmaceuticals, where she contributed during a period of significant advances in obesity research, including work related to the leptin receptor pathway. She subsequently spent more than 26 years at Amgen, focusing on the discovery and development of therapies for metabolic and cardiovascular diseases, including obesity, diabetes, and related disorders.
